Cyber Monday was the largest named U.S. online sales day in Adobe Analytics' 2025 holiday results, reaching $14.25B. Black Friday followed at $11.8B, while Thanksgiving generated $6.4B.

  • Cyber Monday was 20.8% larger than Black Friday online.
  • Black Friday still reached 82.8% of Cyber Monday's online spend.
  • Adobe measured direct consumer transactions across U.S. retail sites, not worldwide retail sales.

Why the scope matters

The ranking compares named single days measured by the same company, in the same currency, market, period and transaction dataset. It does not assume Adobe sees every U.S. purchase or that a U.S. winner is automatically the world's largest sales event.

How Fast Is Cyber Monday Online Spending Growing?

Adobe's final Cyber Monday releases show four consecutive U.S. spending records.

U.S. Cyber Monday online spending increased from $11.3B in 2022 to $14.25B in 2025, setting a new record in each year of the series.

  • Total nominal growth over the three-year span was 26.1%.
  • The compound annual growth rate was 8.0%.
  • The intermediate totals were $12.4B in 2023 and $13.3B in 2024.

What the trend does and does not show

The series uses Adobe Analytics releases for every year, which keeps the source and U.S. online-spend definition consistent. The values are nominal dollars and are not adjusted for inflation, population growth or Adobe's changing retailer coverage.

How Much of Cyber Week Happens on Each Day?

The headline day matters, but most five-day spending still happened elsewhere in the week.

Source: Adobe Analytics, Dec. 2, 2025 · Percentages calculated by Siteefy

Consumers spent $44.2B online during the five days from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday in 2025. Cyber Monday alone contributed ≈32.2% of that total.

  • Black Friday contributed ≈26.7%.
  • Thanksgiving contributed ≈14.5%.
  • Saturday and Sunday together generated $11.8B, equal to ≈26.7% of the five-day total.

A concentrated week, not one isolated day

Cyber Monday remained the largest component, but more than two thirds of Cyber Week spending happened on the other four days. Retailers therefore need a multi-day view even when a single-day record gets the headline.

Can Singles' Day and Prime Day Be Ranked Against Cyber Monday?

Duration, merchant coverage and transaction definitions prevent a truthful one-number world ranking.

Measurement comparison

Three events, three different scopes

A numerical leaderboard would hide the duration, coverage and transaction definition that make each total different.

Sources: Adobe 2025, Alibaba 2021 and Amazon 2025 original releases

Not cleanly. Alibaba reported RMB 540.3B in GMV for its 2021 11.11 campaign, but that figure covers 11 days, several marketplaces and the value of settled orders. It is not a one-day consumer-spend total.

  • Alibaba translated the 2021 total to $84.54B using a stated 2021 exchange rate.
  • Amazon described Prime Day 2025 as a record sales event, but it ran for four days and Amazon did not disclose a dollar total in the results release.
  • Adobe's Cyber Monday number is one calendar day of U.S. online consumer spending across the retailers in its analytics dataset.

The honest comparison

These events are all commercially important, but duration, geography, currency, merchant coverage and measurement differ. A useful comparison preserves those labels instead of forcing the numbers into a false global ranking.

Does the Largest Online Sales Day Change by Country?

Cyber Monday led the U.S.; Black Friday led the U.K. in Adobe's 2025 results.

Yes. Adobe identified Cyber Monday as the leading U.S. online shopping day in 2025, while its U.K. analysis identified Black Friday as the country's largest online shopping day, with £1.16B spent.

  • The U.S. and U.K. figures stay in their original currencies; this page does not introduce a moving exchange-rate assumption.
  • The U.K. article reports £3.8B across Cyber Weekend, which is a multi-day total rather than a Black Friday figure.
  • Country-specific shopping calendars, retailer promotions and consumer habits can change which day leads.

Methodology

6 checks, manually reviewed

01 - What we rank

The direct ranking is limited to named one-day U.S. online shopping events reported by Adobe Analytics for the same 2025 Cyber Week period. Multi-day events are shown separately.

02 - What the figures measure

Adobe reports online consumer spending. Alibaba reports gross merchandise volume from settled orders. Amazon reports record event sales without an absolute dollar amount. Those measures are not treated as interchangeable.

03 - How we calculate shares

Cyber Week shares divide each source-reported day or two-day weekend total by Adobe's $44.2 billion five-day total. Adobe publishes those inputs independently with rounding, so the displayed shares are approximate and total 100.1%; the composition bar normalizes them to 100% for display. Growth divides the 2025 Cyber Monday total by the 2022 total; CAGR spans three annual intervals.

04 - How currencies are handled

U.S. dollars, pounds sterling and renminbi stay in their original reported currencies. We do not convert them using a current exchange rate or use Alibaba's historical dollar translation as a current comparison.

05 - How the page is maintained

A person reviews the original publisher's release before a value changes. The metrics are manually maintained in code, and this page does not claim to update itself.

06 - What we excluded

We excluded forecasts, secondary roundups, untraceable records and rankings that combine one-day spending with multi-day GMV or transaction volume.
