WordPress.com gave me a clean free start for Mir Labs. I liked the simple setup, the clean free theme, and how easy it was to get a small lab site live without buying anything first. For a new project, that low friction start matters a lot, because you can focus on the content instead of the setup. I would recommend it to anyone starting a small site or blog.

I run my whole site on WordPress and the plugin ecosystem is the reason. You can build almost anything without touching code. The downside is maintenance: updates, backups, and speed optimization are on you. Still unmatched for content sites that need to scale.
